Play along with a real song. Pocket counts you in, then tells you the moment you start rushing or dragging.
Find a song
Search uses Apple Music's 30-second previews, which is all a web page is allowed to play. To practise a whole song, use its audio file.

Demo track
Pocket plays the song out loud itself, so it always knows exactly where you are in it. The demo track is 4 bars of drums, then G, Em, C, D.
Bars
Tap a bar to come in there
Turn on the metronome and listen. If it sits on the drums, the grid is right. If it doesn't, fix it below.
Tempo and grid
Play the song and tap this on every beat, starting on a "1". After 8 taps Pocket sets the tempo and bar 1 from your taps.
0 means until the song ends
Strumming pattern
D = down, U = up, X = muted chuck, - = skip. One letter per slot of the grid. The pattern repeats.
Chords
One chord per bar, split with |. Two chords in one bar share it: G | C D | Em. The list repeats.

How that went
Each dot is one strum. Above the line is late, below is early. The green band is "on time". Red ticks at the bottom are strums Pocket didn't hear.

Why can't it play whole songs from search?
Streaming services only let web pages play 30-second previews. For a full song, use an audio file you own. Pocket has to play the song itself (rather than listen to Spotify) because that's how it knows the song position to the millisecond. Pocket can't tell a down strum from an up strum by sound, so it only checks when you strum.
